Team NB Player selected to the 2009 Canadian Midget All Star Team

At the Canadian Midget National Championships Adam Spurrell (bottom left in picture) of Quispamsis was named on the Canadian Midget All Star Team. Adam is the first male player from New Brunswick to win this prestigious position. Adam also played for New Brunswick at the Canada Summer Games in PEI, he left the Canada Games and went directly to Brampton to compete at the midget lacrosse nationals. 2009 Dr. McManaman Bursary Awards

As part of a three-year sponsorship program with Dr. John McManaman, two qualifying intermediate aged members of the Codiac Storm Lacrosse Club who are entering post secondary education this fall were recently presented with the 2009 Dr. John McManaman Bursary Awards. The awards were presented by Dr. John McManaman and Jodie Babkirk-Massoudi.

The bursaries, both valued at $500, were presented to Mary Jane Roper, who is entering the Education program at Concordia University and Mitch Murphy, who is entering the Bachelor of Arts program at Saint Thomas University.

Team NB Peewee at 2009 Lacrosse Nationals

Whitby On, August 4, 2009 - Team NB Peewee in action against Team Iroquois in a round robin game at the 2009 Nationals. It was a very close game but Team Iroquois did get the win with a 5 to 3 score. Team NB Bantam at 2009 Lacrosse Nationals

Whitby On, August 4, 2009 - Team NB Bantam is in Whitby competing at the Lacrosse Nationals. The photo to the right shows Team NB's goalie making a super save against Team Ontario. Steve Westbury, who sent us the photo, commented: "As usual Ontario had a very strong and talented team and easily defeated us but the game was a great warm up for when we start playing the 'B' division teams, that starts tonight".

Whitby On, August 7, 2009 - Team NB Bantam during the semi final against Team Québec. It was a tight scoring game but Team Québec came out on top with a 4 to 3 score. This placed Team NB in the "B" Division Bronze Medal game and Team Québec in the Gold Medal game. Photo by Steve Westbury.

The KV Bantam Sting have been crowned this years Provinicial Champions after going undefeated in the tournament which consisted of the top teams from Saint John, Moncton and Sackville.

NB Team Comes Home with Silver Medal

The Fundy Riptide Bantam Selects recently captured the silver Medal at the Garnet Knight Lacrosse tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The team was made up from selected Bantam age players from the KV and Saint John area.

Lacrosse NB Announces Provincial Team Coaches

Lacrosse New Brunswick is please to announce Bruce Logan of Saint John as the head coach of the 2009 Female Bantam Provincial team. This marks the first time a National provincials will be held at the female bantam level, and we wish Bruce the best of luck in establishing New Brunswick’s mark at this level.

Lacrosse New Brunswick is please to announce the coaches of the male provincial teams for the 2009 season. François Leblanc of Moncton will head up the PeeWee Team, while Neil Antworth of Saint John has been named coach of the Bantam squad. Dave Arseneault, also of Saint John has been named to the head coach position of the Midget Provincial team. LNB is proud to have such a qualified and experienced level of coaches heading up these teams.

All teams will travel to Ontario to compete in the Canadian National Championships in the summer of 2009. We wish all the best of luck as they prepare to make these the best prepared teams New Brunswick has ever sent to Nationals, and we wish each of them the best of luck in raising the bar in 2009.

2009 Peewee NB Lacrosse Team Tryouts Announced

Lacrosse New Brunswick will be holding tryouts for the 2009 Peewee Provincial Team in January and February. This team will represent New Brunswick at the Peewee Box Lacrosse Championships in Whitby Ontario next August.

The tryout format will include ID camps in Dieppe and Saint John on January 25th and February 1st respectively.  Players can attend one or both ID camps at their discretion.  Elite players from these camps will be identified and invited to attend the final tryout camp on February 15th in Saint John.

Bantam Provincial Team Tryouts Announced

Lacrosse New Brunswick will be holding tryouts for the Bantam Provincial Team in February 2009. This team will represent New Brunswick at the Bantam Box Lacrosse Championships in Whitby Ontario next August.

Tryout times and dates are as follows;

  • Sunday February 8th 6pm-9pm Mathieu-Martin High in Dieppe
  • Saturday February 14th 10am-2pm Rothesay High in Rothesay
  • Sunday February 15th 10am-2pm Rothesay High in Rothesay

One time payment of $40.00 is required for tryout camps. This allows athletes to attend all three if they chose though it is only necessary to attend one camp.

Players should plan on arriving a half hour before the tryout to register with their completed registration form and payment. Full gear is required and athletes should bring a snack for a nutrition break.

Final camp schedules will be posted in the near future.

Midget Provincial Team Tryouts Announced

Lacrosse New Brunswick will be holding the tryouts for the Midget Provincial Team in January and February 2009. This team will represent New Brunswick at the Midget Box Lacrosse Championships in Brampton Ontario next August.

Lacrosse New Brunswick is looking for volunteers to participate in the growth and expansion of Lacrosse in our province. The following positions are currently vacant: Treasurer, Coaching Sector Chair, and Box Sector Chair. Girls! It's your turn ... it's your time!

You are invited to make history by trying out for the first ever New Brunswick Provincial Bantam Girls Box Lacrosse Team! In August 2009, Lacrosse New Brunswick will send a team to participate in the inaugural Canadian Girls Bantam Box Lacrosse Championships in Whitby, Ontario. This will be held in conjunction with the Ontario Lacrosse Festival, one of the the largest youth events of its kind in the world and a place where great lacrosse memories are made!

All Bantam-aged girls born in 1995 & 1996 who are members in good standing of Lacrosse New Brunswick.

Lacrosse NB looking for Head Coaches

Lacrosse New Brunswick is accepting applications for Head Coach positions for the 2009 Peewee, Bantam and Midget Boys Provincial Teams. These teams will represent New Brunswick at the Canadian Lacrosse Nationals next summer. Nationals for Peewee and Bantam will be held in Whitby Ontario August 1st to the 9th. Midget Nationals will be held in Ontario late August.
